Marcelo Arevalo made Central American doubles history
Marcelo Arevalo became the first Central American man to win a Grand Slam title when he and Jean-Julien Rojer took the 2022 Roland Garros doubles crown after saving three championship points. He won Paris again with Mate Pavic in 2024 and rose to doubles No. 1 that November, another first for Central American tennis. The Salvadoran's route also included college tennis at Tulsa and a much earlier singles career that peaked at No. 139, but his defining results have come through partnerships and fast decisions at the net.
