Thiago Seyboth Wild turned junior aggression into a historic ATP title

Thiago Seyboth Wild ended his junior career by winning the 2018 US Open boys' championship, then became the first ATP Tour champion born in the 2000s. The 19-year-old wild card beat Casper Ruud for the 2020 Santiago title, making him the youngest Brazilian tour champion of the Open Era. His largest ranking upset came at Roland Garros in 2023, where the qualifier defeated world No. 2 Daniil Medvedev in five sets. Runs to the third round at Indian Wells, Miami and Madrid helped carry the right-hander to a career-high No. 58 in May 2024.
