Casper Ruud turns a clay foundation into three major finals
Casper Ruud became Norway's first consistent men's contender at the top of the sport, reaching world No. 2 and three Grand Slam singles finals. He finished runner-up to Rafael Nadal at 2022 Roland Garros, Carlos Alcaraz at the 2022 US Open and Novak Djokovic at 2023 Roland Garros. Ruud's heavy forehand, disciplined footwork and high-margin construction were developed for clay, yet the New York final proved those patterns can travel to hard courts. He has also broadened his doubles experience, including a 2025 mixed run with Iga Swiatek that ended only in the US Open championship match.
