Tamara Zidansek reached the 2021 Roland Garros semifinals, becoming the first Slovenian woman to make the last four of a Grand Slam. Her run began with a three-hour, 20-minute victory over No. 6 seed Bianca Andreescu and continued through a 7-5, 4-6, 8-6 quarterfinal against Paula Badosa. Clay is her favorite surface, and the mechanism is clear: a heavily spun forehand produced 109 winners across her first five rounds in Paris. Zidansek later climbed to No. 22 and has won one WTA singles title plus three WTA 125 trophies.
