Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo entered the 2026 Ostrava Challenger as an alternate and left with his first trophy at that level. The 27-year-old defeated top seed Dalibor Svrcina 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 in the quarterfinal and home player Zdenek Kolar 6-4, 7-6 in the final. By mid-June he led the Challenger Tour with 25 match wins. The title marked a new peak after years spent largely on clay-court ITF and Challenger events and carried the Barcelona-born right-hander to a career-high No. 214.
