Moise Kouame turned a major debut into a five-set Paris breakthrough
Moise Kouame announced himself in the 2026 Roland Garros main draw at 17. The French wild card beat former world No. 3 Marin Cilic 7-6, 6-2, 6-1, then recovered from 2-5 in the fifth set to defeat Adolfo Daniel Vallejo after four hours and 56 minutes. That run made Kouame the youngest man to reach a major third round since Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon in 2003 and carried him into the Top 200. Only two years earlier, he had entered his first professional tournament as an unranked 15-year-old.
