David Jorda Sanchis earned his first ATP win at age 29
David Jorda Sanchis followed a route far outside the standard academy-to-tour timeline. Shoulder injuries required surgery when he was 18 or 19, and he later balanced tennis with work at Gimnastic de Tarragona, the football club in his home city. At the 2024 Estoril Open, aged 29 and ranked No. 329, the Spaniard finally earned his first ATP Tour match win. He had first recognized his level by finishing runner-up at a Spanish championship at 17, but more than a decade passed before the tour breakthrough. His career is defined by persistence through interruptions, employment and lower-circuit travel rather than early ranking privilege.
