Varvara Lepchenko was born in Tashkent, moved to the United States in 2001 and became a U.S. citizen in 2011. The left-hander climbed to a career-high No. 19, represented the country at the 2012 Olympics and reached the fourth round at both Roland Garros in 2012 and the US Open in 2015. Her résumé also includes the 2014 Seoul final and a Charleston WTA 125 title in 2021.
