Roberto Carballes Baena made clay-court endurance a two-title ATP career
Roberto Carballes Baena became the first Spanish qualifier in twelve years to win an ATP title when he took Quito in 2018. He added Marrakech in 2023 after recovering from a set down in three of five matches, then reached a career-high No. 49 at age 30. The Granada native has also won thirteen Challenger finals, including three consecutive Seville titles from 2022 through 2024. He grew up admiring David Ferrer, an appropriate reference for a career built on physical baseline work, and lists clay as his favorite surface.
