Maddison Inglis arrives after a career-best Melbourne run
Maddison Inglis was almost eliminated before the 2026 Australian Open main draw, then turned that escape into her first Grand Slam round-of-16 run. It surpassed the Perth native's previous major high from Melbourne in 2022, when she beat No. 23 seed Leylah Fernandez and Hailey Baptiste before losing to Kaia Kanepi in round three. Inglis also reached her first WTA 125 final in Vancouver in 2026. Those results provide a much clearer picture of her present level than her career-high ranking of No. 112, which dates to 2020.
