Hayu Kinoshita: a seven-match Kyoto breakthrough at nineteen
Hayu Kinoshita moved from junior prospect to a top-250 professional through a major home-court breakthrough. The Japanese right-hander reached junior No. 20 in 2023, then won her first professional title at W15 Fukui in 2025. Her bigger leap came at W75 Kyoto in March 2026: Kinoshita qualified, played seven matches, dropped only one set and defeated Ena Shibahara 7-5, 6-1 in the final. She rose almost 100 ranking places immediately and later reached a WTA 125 quarterfinal in Jiujiang, pushing her career high to No. 212 by May.
