Diego Dedura became the first 2008-born ATP match winner
Diego Dedura made ATP history in Munich in 2025 at age 17. After beating Mackenzie McDonald 6-3, 6-1 in qualifying and losing to Alexander Bublik, the German entered the ATP 500 main draw as a lucky loser. He then became the first player born in 2008 or later to contest and win an ATP Tour match, leading former Top 10 player Denis Shapovalov 7-6, 3-0 when the Canadian retired. Dedura's composure was as notable as the age record: he saved both break points in the second set and described staying focused despite the pressure of a home crowd and a completely unexpected opportunity.
