Ayla Aksu reaches a new career level at 30
Ayla Aksu's 2026 season produced the clearest breakthrough of her long professional career. The San Francisco-born Turkish right-hander reached her first WTA 125 singles final on the hard courts of Figueira da Foz and climbed to a career-high No. 198. Weeks later in Prague, she avenged a qualifying loss to Sofia Costoulas and recorded her first WTA main-draw victory since 2017. Those results matter more than a generic age label: at 30, Aksu converted years of ITF competition into her first Top 200 ranking and fresh tour-level progress, while continuing to represent Turkey on the international circuit.
