Ayana Akli turns an All-American college career into pro progress
Ayana Akli developed at Maryland and South Carolina before establishing herself on the ITF circuit. With the Gamecocks, she became a three-time singles All-American, peaked at No. 3 in the national college rankings and reached the 2023 NCAA quarterfinals, the deepest run in program history. Her 2023-24 season included 28 singles wins, 15 against ranked opponents, while she also earned SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors and completed civil engineering studies. Akli later added professional singles and doubles titles, translating a 127-44 college singles record into a ranking that brought her repeated Grand Slam qualifying opportunities.
